Park City

Last week the whole fam met up in Park City, Utah.  We got up early on Saturday and hit the road.  We decided to park in a lot near where I work and grab an airport bus so we didn't have to pay for airport parking all week (I had spoken to some people who have taken it before).  It was so awkward!!  Everyone on the bus was going to work (no luggage in sight) and we got on with 500 pieces of luggage.

We had a nice, quick hour flight into Salt Lake (too quick if you ask me I didn't get enough nap time in)!

We landed about the same time as my parents & my brother's gang and met them at baggage claim.  M y parents had rented a van but we couldn't all fit with our luggage ha so my mom dumped some of her luggage on Christian and I (like we didn't have enough of our own!) and we grabbed a shuttle to The Canyons ski resort and checked into the "hotel," The Westagate.

My parents, etc were still on their way so Christian and I brought our things up to one of the rooms that was ready (my parents had a 1 br and all of the kids stayed in a larger unit right next door, but that wasn't ready for quite awhile).

We relaxed in the sun until the rest of the family arrived.

My sister wasn't coming into town for a bit so we went and grabbed lunch at the base of the mountain, which was right outside our resort.

After lunch, still without our larger suite ready, some of us headed to do the dreaded grocery shopping.  Soon after we got back with enough groceries for the entire resort our larger suite was ready and the Giesa's had arrived.

Luckily the resort had a great indoor/outdoor pool that was really warm for the kids to swim in, otherwise they were cooped up in the room.

The Westgate was way bigger than I expected!  Endless hallways which we are sure to see in our dreams.

One morning Christian & I took all four kiddos to the pool so their mommy's & daddy's could have some free time.  The kids were so good!  Until... all the parents showed up!!  hmm... guess we are not trusted!

 Hey guys, wait for me!

They also had an adults only pool

My siblings & I each picked a meal to cook.  For some reason we decided it was a good idea to cook the first night.  Bad idea!  Of course it was Christian and I who cooked and everyone was cranky (kids) and exhausted from flying and the east-coasters were operating 2 hours ahead.  BUT we got through it, had a nice meal, enjoyed some wine, played some cards and went to bed.

Here are some skiing photos from throughout the week. Below, Lisa made us ski on a wheat field. If you look closely, you can see AJ's legs up in the air ha.  Not sure where the rest of his body is.

To be honest the snow was not great, and got very slushy towards the end of the week which was a bummer (to make it worse they got 14 inches the day we left) but we still had a great time!!  It was definitely spring skiing- warm & sunny!

The lift behind them is called the Bubble.  Its 'heated.'  Which I think just means the orange color of the cover soaks in the sun and makes it nice and cozy- which we didn't need with our 50 degree temps.

To die for real estate on the mountain

In the bubble.

The Canyons is huge! (at least to me it is)

Christian & I were headed in as Lisa & Kevin headed out.  It was pretty warm so Lisa and Christian did a jacket swap.

Hugs for the little ones before I ht the slopes

Liv & Johnny got a chance to get out on skis one morning.  They were both so excited to ski!

BUT, once they got out on the mountain were not so into it.

Johnny:  They are too big, dad!

Lisa took Johnny down the  'hill' and he ended up loving it!

Riding the magic carpet back up:

Johnny & Lisa, Liv & Kevin to the right

Eventually we got Liv to agree to giving it a try.  I took her down bc Kevin didn't have skis on.  Lauren skied along side of us.  She wouldn't say a word to me ha.  But she did it with no tears! (according to my dad Kevin screamed the whole way down his first time)

Olivia is using the dead fish method (probably my fault)

Was a little scared of the magic carpet
The kids took a hot chocolate break in the lodge and to my surprise they got them to give it a few more go's before calling it quits.  Meanwhile I made Lauren, semi-new to skiing, go down a blue slope.  She hated me for it but did great!

Group bath time (Dominic is always missing! Probably because he sleeps 21 hours a day)

Grandpa entertaining Riley

On Tuesday we took a break from skiing.  The mom's & dad's took the little ones to a kids gym and my parents and Christian & I headed into the town of Park City (10 min from resort)

We walked around and shopped.

Later that night we hit the town again with my siblings for some kid-free dining at Silver:

We had LOTS of yummy food!!

My brother and I shared the lamb shank & wild mushroom risotto.

 We liked it.

Christian had the pork

Pomegranate brussels sprouts, so good!!  Tasted like french fries.

Panna Cotta with trix for dessert. Strange.

We had a fabulous, fun dinner!!

After dinner we crossed the street and had some fun at No Name Saloon.

We sat next to the shuffle board table
A game of finger blaster

On Thursday night we did dinner in shifts.  Kevin, Lauren. Christian and I had the early shift and my parents and Lisa & AJ went out when we got home.

Liv & Johnny being silly in my room while I got ready

Watching a movie

We didn't want to take too long so we ate at the Alpine House which was at the base of the mountain.

It was very cozy!!

Enjoying some adult time!

Really enjoying some adult time! Ha optical illusion. This was my delicious cocktail 'pearfection.'

We ordered a bunch of things to share and dessert to go, it was delish.

On the walk home we spotted the outdoor movie theater.

We had the best time & loved spending time with the family who we've been missing a lot this year!

A VERY special thank you to my parents who spoil us rotten!!!
We are some extremely lucky "kids"!

Thank you Thank you Thank you
