Weekend Getaway

Christian & I just got back from a fabulous weekend getaway!

I had gotten a Groupon a month or so ago for a resort in Vail and had planned a surprise trip (an early anniversary trip since CR is on call all of June and can't really travel) for us next weekend.  BUT, the weather looked cold and rainy so I called and they were able to change it to this weekend, woohoo!  

Saturday morning I woke CR up early & let him know we were going on a little trip :)  He was very confused for some reason but eventually he understood ha. 

We hit the road by 8:30

And arrived at our lovely resort a little after 10.  

We had planned on having to wait to check in until 4:00 but our room (which got upgraded) was ready!

We had a mountain view room with a patio overlooking Gore Creek.

Not bad for $100!

We decided to go to the gym (which is a big complex right next door) and play some tennis.

 

It was a lot of fun!  I haven't played tennis in probably 3 years but can't wait to play more!

Then we grabbed some salads from the little market in the hotel and had lunch on our patio

  

 

It was a BEAUTIFUL day so we hit the pool!  It was right around the corner from our room.

We lounged and listened to the creek.

After some drinks & a little napping we went in another hot tub outside our room then showered and got ready for dinner in town.

But first a little champagne for our fake anniversary :)

 

We took the hotel shuttle about 5 min down the road to town

We had a great dinner at Terra Bistro

We got to try a lot of things bc they had a 3 course deal.

We took home a lot of leftovers!

At dinner we were chatting with our waiter who was from Baltimore.  When he left the table the man seated behind CR came over and said he was from Whitfield and went to Wilson HS.  Shut the front door!

Crazy.

We were too full to go out to a bar so we went home and went in the hot tub for a bit

 The next morning we went for a run on the trail got up and went to the spa :)  It was 40% off, how could we resist!? 

We put on our robes and relaxed in the... relaxing room?

 I got a wonderful facial (with a side of painful peel which I did not know was on the menu) and CR got a massage. 

Then we headed back to the room and packed up.

Just as we left it started to rain a bit.

We had a fabulous time celebrating our fake anniversary!
