Welcome Amy! (I'm sure she is thrilled with us taking her picture after her 5th flight in less than 2 weeks) |
Sorry, photo keeps showing up this way... |
They had lots of yummy things to choose from. Amy went with the sticky bun french toast:
And I went with the Super-Calli-Fragil-Istic-Expi-Ali-Toast Stix- very healthy!! They were stuffed with bacon, nutella and peanut butter cream cheese frosting. Weird combo but very good...Our waiter saw me snapping pics and offered to take one of us with our food. Little did we know he would stand on the table next to us to do it!
After breakfast we headed to over to Wash(ington) Park
Amy decided we needed to get on a Surry to really get a good feel for the park:
Some more scenic pics:
After our tour of the park we walked around the nearby shops on Old South Pearl Street:
Of course I found a cat or two! |
They had a lot of cute shops and restaurants.
After some shopping we headed home to relax a bit. Christian's friend James also arrived from NYC to spend the night with us (they played soccer together at Duquesne). And as soon as he arrived, so did MORE rain!! This rain is like clockwork- everyday at 5:00 pm the sky opens up and dumps a ton of rain on us... and once again we have hail and a river flowing down our street.
Christian, Amy, James and I headed out after the storm for a quick bite to eat around the corner.
I had a fake mustache tattoo- but our waiter had a real one he got when he was 13 :) As soon as we left dinner the skies opened up AGAIN- UGH!!! We had one umbrella a ran the 3 block home in the POURING rain. There was also tons of lightning. About 1/2 block from my house there was a piece of sidewalk missing under a puddle which we didn't see. It sucked my flip flop right off. Not good. I got on my knees and felt around the puddle of water and mud for 5 minutes with no luck (and no help from Amy- who was standing a few feet away, offering me no umbrella protection, and trying not to pee her pants). I sent Christian back out with his flashlight to get my shoe. I tried to tell him he had to get down and dirty and put his hand in the mud pile but you all know Christian- pretty boy!! So James ran to the rescue and recovered the shoe quite quickly. He brought it back to me and when he got under the porch light it was covered in mud, so he went to wash it off in a puddle- but bit it on the front step (bleeding in two places). Poor James!! Thanks for getting my shoe! Anyway after this very long story I somehow lost the picture of James and I completely drenched.
We all got on a fresh set of clothes and headed to the city to meet some of James' other friends on my favorite street downtown- Larimer Street.
We enjoyed a few drinks and head home to bed. In the morning Amy and I dropped Christian at work and headed to the airport. It was a great time- thanks so much for stopping to see us Amy & James!!
