Last weekend we headed to Las Vegas for the American Dental Association Conference.
Christian and I had a 7am flight from Denver.
My mom & Lisa & AJ boarded an earlier flight from WA and got there shortly after us around 9.
Slots as soon as you exit the plane.
We grabbed a quick breakfast at Mandalay Bay while we waited for my mom, etc. and checked out the hotel.
Fountain by the pool.
Once they arrived we all piled in our hotel room bc the other rooms weren't ready yet.
Here is AJ checking out.... hmm not sure WHAT he is looking at!
Not long after my Dad arrived from PA. Christian & AJ hit the gym (I guess AJ thought he had some work to do after looking at the Chipendale dancers above), my parents went to eat and my sis and I hit the pool.
The weather started out in the mid 70's and went up each day. It was perfect!! Wouldn't have wanted it any hotter.
Everyone joined in on the fun...
The Reinecker's also arrived and joined us at the pool (they stayed at the MGM).
Later we showered & went to the Casino for cocktails:
The light really brings out my nose.
Then headed to dinner at Jasmine in the Bellagio.
Limo was cheaper/faster than a taxi
Lobby at Bellagio
Time for dinner.
We had front row seats to the fountains.
After dinner we headed across the casino to see Cirque du Soleil "O"
They had these crazy Russian 'diving boards'. There would be 3 or 4 people standing on them rocking them back and forth, launching each other into the water. Then they would climb out and hop on to be launched again. They went SOOO high!
The contortionist girls from Mongolia.
One second people were on dry 'ground' and the next second there are people diving into the pool. The floor came and went so fast. It was fun to try and figure out how they do it all- breathing underwater, all the cables in the ceiling, etc. Some people are suffering from neck pain from falling asleep and jerking awake! (in our defense we were up since 3 am flying). The show was fabulous!
At night we headed over to the Venetian hotel and the Palazzo to do some shopping and have drinks & dinner.
A man enjoying the Brookstone store a little too much.
Feels like your outside!
Mexican for dinner, yum!
Sangria...
3 delicious kinds of Guac.
After dinner we hit the casino.
I think everyone lost that night. Christian overall had the best luck and won about 6 or 7 hundred. He won $240 in a dollar slot as he left the casino one day.
Fall at the Bellagio
The next morning we all had breakfast at Mandalay then the dentists headed to classes while the girls and my dad hit the pool. I imagine the conference went something like this....
Here is "me" at dinner while they were recapping the conference:
Anyway, hoped they learned something :)
While they were in class my mom, dad, Muffy and I hit the Mandalay Bay wave pool. My dad and I headed in first. Muffy went to the restroom and my mom came out into the pool or minute or two later. My dad tried to warn my mom she better walk out into deeper water faster but lucky for me she didn't listen. BAM! Huge wave smacks her right in the face. Just about knocked her over. Classic.
Next up was Muffy who missed Maura's incident. As she enters the wave pool she announces, "I just want to get wet slowly." We are holding back our giggles and she wades in the wave crash zone. Wave comes. Muffy goes down- hard. Then shes back up barely clothed, and down again. Ouch. I hold back the urine as best I can. Thanks Maura and Muffy for the highlight of my trip.
Maura tried to take a pic of my dad and I in the wave pool (we are about 50 feet to the left. Nice try mom!):
Monday night we headed to the MGM for the Temple Dental cocktail party. It was as lame as it sounds. My dad's Pear Port Pudding Pop exploded on the dean's wife. So we left. In a limo.
We decided not to eat dinner so we weren't feeling too full or tired to go out. So after the cocktail party we headed back to the hotel. Lisa and I changed into our dancing pants and met everyone at 5 Below, a bar in Mandalay.
We are covering Lisa's arm at her request.
After some drinks (some = 500) we prepared to go into the ice room!
You weren't allowed to take cameras in (boo!) but they had someone take your pic inside. This is a pic of the pic on my phone. I don't have a hard copy yet.
Christian saw a junior he knew from school at the Temple thing and he ended up coming out with us. Everyone called him Doogie bc he looked like Doogie Houser. He got in the pic and AJ asked him to come sit up front and then he pinned him down to the ground so he could not be seen. HAAA Poor Doogie.
We sang happy birthday to Muffy inside.
My sis, Christian and AJ and I went dancing, gambling, etc. Someone came up to Christian and said you better go get your girl that guys moving in on her. It was AJ.
Pictures/videos of this are never to be seen, sorry. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
The next day I sat at the pool and chocked back vomit.
A plane made a heart in the sky.
My dad in fetal position napping.
Unfortunately Christian and I had to go home that evening :(
So we said our goodbyes and were off!
Hopefully we will get in another trip to Vegas before we leave Denver :)
