This morning Christian and I hit the slopes for the first time this season! We knew the snow wouldn't be that great yet but we figured we go test out our new skis & snowboard. We left Denver (58 degrees- felt strange to be going skiing) just after 8 am and headed down Rt 70 to Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin).
The drive took about an hour and a half. It started to snow about 45 min in so we had to go pretty slow from then on.
Below is Keystone, just before A-Basin.
Both mountains are on our season pass.
Up the hill to A-Basin, almost there.... So crazy how the weather changes so fast!
Time to get dressed in the snow :)
Our radios
Ready to go!
Notice the hands free mic for the radio- fun!
(I ended up taking it off bc it hurt my ear in my helmet. I have to work on that)
The conditions were not fabulous because it was snowing and really hard to see at the top. I actually felt really nauseous and got a headache whenever I skied, I think it was because I couldn't see (needed my glasses or prescription goggles!). On the way down to the lodge we realized the runs closer to the bottom were so much better! You could see and the snow was nice and fluffy. We took a few runs and then headed in for lunch and a beer to warm up.
We skied a bit more then headed home. We did get invited to a sweet keg party in the parking lot (one person had a limo ha). It was tempting but my nausea was still wearing off (and it was cold) so we passed.
Ahhh felt so nice to get those ski boots off and get my slippers on!
Getting closer to Denver. See how nice the weather is getting again?
Home sweet home :)
What's with all the traffic?
It was a great trip and nice to try out our new gear (takes getting used to those fat skis!). Hopefully we will have another go next weekend :)
Lastly, Happy Happy 1st Birthday to my niece Riley!! Miss you so much! Can't wait to see you in 5 or 6 weeks :)
Looks like you started the season long long before us!!!!
