Tuesday morning I woke up early and took Christian to work before doing some last minute things around the house to prepare for the Giesa's arrival.
| Pretty sky while driving Christian to work |
I headed to the airport around 9:00 am. This is the 32 foot blue horse by the airport....
The man who was building it died when a piece fell off and killed him- yikes! It was also voted #3 most bizarre public pieces of art in the country.
So happy to see my nephews!
Here is Dominic chillin' in his plane seat/car seat/stroller.
(He looks a lot skinnier but still feels like a ton of bricks!)
Lisa and Johnny
We made a stop at Wal-mart to get a few things for the kiddos before heading home for lunch & naps.
Checking out the toys
Notice Dominic imitates Ernie's laugh :)
After the kids woke up we headed out to pick up Christian from work. I brought Johnny up to get him and course he was the center of attention dancing for everyone. Someone gave him a little chocolate candy and while he was eating it someone else offered him a lollipop. He took the chewed up chocolate out of his mouth, put it in the nurses hand, and grabbed the sucker. Luckily she has a 2 yr old and found it hilarious!
From there we headed to the playground to let the boys run wild a bit.
They are too quick and most of my pics came out blurry :(
The boys watching someone with a remote control car
When we got home we ordered a pizza for the boys & gave them a bath.
I had my clients old nanny & husband come over to watch the boys while we went out to dinner. She nannies for his friends now and we play with them a few times a week. Dominic was already in bed so Johnny hung out with the sitters until he passed out.

Lisa, AJ, Christian & I headed out to an area of Denver called the Highlands. We had dinner reservations at 8:30 but we headed to a place called Linger a few blocks away from the restaurant for some drinks. Linger has a great view of the city....
Unfortunately there was a 30 minute wait just to sit at the bar! Geez. So we walked to Root Down where we were going to have dinner and sat at the bar there.
| Ice cream place on the way...Reminds me of The Cone |
This was our first time here and we LOVED it!!
First we hit the bar for a round of drinks.
The boys got Moscow Mules (ginger beer, lime & vodka served in a copper mug):
Lisa got a dirty martini which the bartender referred to as the Lindsay Lohan :)
I got a vodka tonic. Root Down makes their own tonic which is why it has the more brownish color. Sounds gross but it was soooo delish.
At our table...
The menu has a lot of small plates and a few larger entrees. We pretty much ordered all of the small plates and shared.
First up:
Diver
Scallops / Plantain Hash,
Lemon-Habanero Tartar Sauce, Fines Herbes & Crispy Red Onions (don't have pic & can't comment bc I don't eat scallops)
“Devils
on Horseback”/ Date & Goat Cheese stuffed Peppadews, wrapped in Serrano
Ham, Smoked Paprika-Sherry Gastrique (again no pic but VERY good!)
| Sweet potatoe fries we got on the house bc there was a bit of a wait btw the first 2 courses. |
|
Organic
Butternut-Ricotta Gnocchi / Mushrooms, Spinach, Black Currants, Shallots, Chile
Flake,
Brown Butter,
Sage-Hazelnut Pesto & Pecorino
|

Steamed
PEI Mussels / Thai Red Curry
Broth, White Wine, Israeli Cous-Cous, Scallions, Fines Herbes & Grilled
Bread
Needless to say we liked it.
| These were lamb sliders- OK but could have done w/o them |
Mascarpone
& Asian Pear-Radicchio Salad
Risotto was excellent- definitely my favorite thing!
Some wine wipes Lisa brought me (??)
| AJ is so childish! |
That's it for Tuesday! More to come...
