It's happening...
I kept reminding Stanley it was getting closer...
I WON'T GO! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!! |
I am a permanent fixture on this mantle |
But as much as he resists.... it IS happening...
Fine. I'll go. But I won't share this box with Chicken. |
I changed my mind again... we're not going anywhere! |
I give up. I'll just lay in front of the air conditioner while you pack. |
Today our "pod" arrived.
Hopefully everything (and this is not everything) will fit and leave our car nice and roomy!

Anniversary & Mt Evans (REVISED)
Seems like just yesterday we got married!
Its been a wonderful and exciting first year of marriage & on Monday we celebrated our 1st Anniversary (again!)
Christian got someone to cover his call for the night and the next day (used a vacation day Tuesday).
We started off with dinner at Rioja in Larimer Square- we had two gift cards, thanks Kevin & Lauren :)
After dinner we went to this "speakeasy" in the Highlands called Williams & Graham.
When you walk in it appears to be a bookstore.
But open the secret bookshelf and poof- its a bar!
We were overwhelmed by the smell of sewage!!
I asked the waitress about it and she said it pretty much happens every time the AC is on. Gross.
We had some yummy drinks!
Christian's "straw" was pretty much a dental mirror.
How convenient.
Unfortunately we weren't able to get our wedding cake topper out here :(
We'll have to have a 2nd Fake Anniversary when we get home :)
The next morning we headed West to drive up Mt Evans (just South Idaho Springs).
Good news; I found most of my pics

Part way up...
15 miles of switchbacks!
This is at the top |
A sweaty, white-knuckled driver (I should have driven!! But then who would take pictures??) |
At the top:
A sign pointing out all the 14ers (peaks where elevation is at least 14,000) we could see, etc.
Below is the parking lot at the top with some ruins (a restaurant/souvenir shop that burnt down) and at the top of that little hill is an observatory)
We had hiked up this little path to the true summit
Reading has this kinda stuff, right?
A lady took our picture together standing on a big rock but I can't seem to find it.
She was so excited about the picture I don't think she even took one.
She also asked if we were on our honeymoon (we just give off that vibe of abounding love for one another) and when I told her it was actually our first anniversary she acted like she had ESP.

Just as we started to drive back down I said "Im so bumbed we didn't see any sheep or goats." One second later I yelled at the sight of these and Christian almost drove us over a cliff!
Almost back to the bottom!
After our drive we stopped in town (Idaho Springs)
for a bite and strolled around:
Cute town but pretty touristy.
When we got home we took a quick nap then headed to dinner with Christians co-residents and one of the doctors and his wife.
It was a great Anniversary!
Looking forward to many more and the next chapter-
Suburbia here we come!!
