Kevin & Lauren Visit- Part II

Saturday morning we headed to Fort Collins for a self-guided bike brewery tour.

Its about an hour drive from Denver.  Christian and I had never been there, but its a very cute town!

On our drive into town we spotted this circular bike for groups (I had seen it online but it costs a pretty penny to rent).

We didn't bother bringing out bikes bc they have a "Bike Library" where you can check bikes out for free.  We hoped to get a tandem but they were already signed out.  Probably for the better as you can imagine the silliness.

Christian got this U bike

The rest of us had semi-normal bikes with wide-set handlebars.

We grabbed a map and headed to our first destination:  The Fort Collins Brewery

We got there about 10 minutes before they opened (oops).  So we just rode around the parking lot enjoying our bikes and the HOT weather.

Then enjoyed some beer of course!

Next stop: Odell Brewing CO

Another good round of beers

The weather was really heating up now- well into the 90's.  Luckily there was a bit of a breeze and it was pleasant while on the bikes.

Round III:  New Belgium Brewery

Some self photos (almost fell off my bike)

Once again I realize what a small world it is... The women checking us in went to Exeter High School!

Apparently the actual brew tour here books out weeks in advance :/  We got on the wait list for the first tour but didn't make the cut.

We sent post cards

Brewing beer is some technical stuff...

The brewery's had just started to get crowded.  I guess people weren't as anxious to drink beer at 11 am like we were.  Losers.

We headed back to town on our bikes to our last stop (there are 9 or 10 breweries we just didn't hit them all for obvious reasons):  Coopersmith's Pub & Brewing

We had a good lunch and cooled off inside.

Afterwards we returned our bikes and walked around town.

Watched some belly dancers

Kevin treated us to some pinball

Before heading home we grabbed some ice cream.

Somebody was tuckered out!

As most of you know, since it is national news, there is a big fire out near Fort Collins.

Before we started our brew tour we saw some smoke, the beginning of the High Park fire and as the day went on it grew and grew:

Here are some photos from the recent days:

Pretty sad.  Its the largest fire to ever hit Larimer County and has grown to 37,000 acres with 0% containment.  Hopefully thy make some progress today!!

To be continued....
