Kevin & Lauren Visit- Part I

We were very happy to have my brother Kevin & my sister-in-law Lauren come to see us this weekend!

They got in around 7:30 Thursday night and left early Sunday morning- not a ton of time but we tried to make the best of it :)

Thursday night we just went and got a bite in the neighborhood, hung out at the house for a bit then went to bed so we were rested for our day on Friday.

We contemplated doing a drive to the top of Mt. Evans but its a bit of a drive & they wanted to be outside as much as possible so they decided on the Royal Arch hike and some brunch in Boulder.

Sorry for the picture repeats!  This was my third time hiking this and I still struggled.  I hadn't eaten breakfast and almost pulled a Lisa (fainting) so I stopped and shoved 1/2 a granola bar down and an apple and felt much better (yet continued to struggle up the mountain).  Kevin ran up this hike with ease (if I don't say it he will just write in the comments section).  Lauren did great, too!

Are we there yet!?  Phew!

These two pose for a picture with ease.... Not!

There we go, that's better

Rewarded with drinks & brunch

Kevin looks so thrilled
When we got home we took a quick nap & I showed the apartment to some potential tenants (annoying but necessary) then we headed to relax at the pool.  It was hot!  Christian had been working all day but met us at the pool for a bit.

After the pool we hung out at the house and got ready & grabbed some food in the Highlands neighborhood.

After dinner we walked down the block for a beer at the Denver Beer Co.

On our way home we stopped at D Bar.  It's a dessert bar type place that I have been dying to go to since we moved here. Its only 2 blocks from our house.

Keegan Gerhard from Food Network is owner & chef.

Christian & I split the ice cream sandwich w/ cherry compote (waffle was cold- boo)
& Lauren had the Churro's w/ rum ice cream

Christian's espresso w/ optional chocolate (I let it touch my tongue & got a raging headache).  He seemed to have enjoyed it to the last drop.

Kevin got the cake & a shake.  I told them it was his b-day (Monday) :)  He even got a card from the staff (signed by HamCheeseburger Head, the dish washer)

It was definitely delicious but didn't blow me away :/  I didn't even finish it.

We were STUFFED & headed home.

Next up Fort Collin's Bike Brew Tour & an evening out.

  1. A tourist actually stopped to take pictures of me, thinking that I was a mountain goat. She later apologized.
